I'm sorta having a mini obsession session over this song and video.
Watch the painting move all over those bodies.
I heard from friends in Europe that this song is making it HUGE over there.
It may be big over here on the North American continent too,
but I guess I live under a rock sometimes, so I wouldn't know ;) Jason Bieber who?
I think Gotye (pronounced gore-ti-yeah) is Belgian, or Australian. It's a little difficult to tell.
Guest appearance by Kimbra.
Besides the happy fact that the author's last name is PINK, this is one of my favorite videos. I love the first question:
What is your Sentence?
What are you about? What is your life about? What is it you're creating of yourself? It's a worthwhile question. I've watched this video several times and each time I come closer to understanding what the question is and as a result closer to understanding what my sentence is. I feel an excitement, a scintillation, shimmer through my body as I allow the veils to fall and myself to become more clear. How about you? What's your sentence?
And then there is the second question:
Was I better today than yesterday?
It's like working from the end; It's like envisioning your success and then filling it in with the daily life that creates the fulfillment of the goal you've set for this lifetime. I think we know what we want to experience in our time here on earth, our sentences have always driven our journeys, yet asking ourselves to consciously remember and state them to ourselves and/or others, may help us stay on course.
It's 4 o'clock in the afternoon in Boulder, Colorado. As I was wondering whether I was going to accomplish anything (anything at all) today, I came across this BRILLIANT animation. Perfect.
If at first I felt the virtualness of this choir a little freaky scary, I soon melted into its immense gorgeousness. It truly touches my heart to see people come together to participate, contribute, and make the beauty of the whole. Look at those faces, soul shining through to the outside.
"Lux Aurumque" was composed and conducted by Eric Whitacre. He merged tracks recorded and uploaded to YouTube by 185 people from 12 countries.
I thought I was well on top of 'what I want' until my beloved 14 year old friend made the above poster and gave it to me, very intentionally. To me, her direct question implied that perhaps there was more to know about 'what I want'. (Plus, do you see that underline? And that big intense question mark?)
So I've been asking more of myself. What is it really, that I'm doing here? What is it really that I want to hitch my heart to? What is it really that I want to give? What is it really that I want to receive? What is it really that I want to create? What is it really that I want to live? What is it really that I want to experience?
I ask. I listen. I let all those answers go. And ask again ... what is it that I really want? As I relax, I sink more deeply beneath each layer. As I do, listening becomes ever more still and scintillating. As I approach the heart of my truth, a melding happens ... wanting begins to dissolve as I become what I am.
Try it. Hitch the heart of your being to what you want, to what you are. In time, it will speak through you into physical expression.
Okay ... too much already? Let's just take it from the top ...
I've lost track of the number of times I've had an idea to do something funny and/or silly in public, always prefaced by "If I were an actor I would ..."
Here is a group of peeps, Improv Everywhere, who's really doing it, spreading joy and silliness, nudging people out of their habitual slumber, worldwide. I love the ridiculousness they get up to. Maybe I'll get to join them on "a mission" one day. That's what they call their antics, missions. Below is one of my favorites.
See if you get a laugh outta yourself. And maybe you'll even find a soft spot in your heart for our fellow humanoids. I certainly have a big SS for us.
Make sure you don't miss The No Pants! Subway Ride to see what seems to be becoming their global signature mission! Maybe you can get in on the action wherever you live!
As Denver is gearing up for the Democratic National Convention happening next week, I thought I'd share this funny video with you. I put my name in the pot to attend Obama's acceptance speech on the final night of the convention but I'm like umm 1000000000000000th on the WAIT list! So that means, off to the local theater we'll skip! Enjoy the video, Obama stotting like a gazelle before he flies over the rainbow on a unicorn is way too good ...
When I saw this, I almost dropped everything to rethink art, creativity, self and the universe! But then I realized, 'Oh, right, they're probably trained. Like most art students!' Still, we knew they had good memories, but who knew elephants could have such amazing eye/trunk coordination, 2D spacial dexterity and grace. Watch her go over a brush stroke to make the line darker. Ela-Phantasic!

Sao Paulo, Brasil
the city in which I was born and grew up
And Now ...
I live, draw, design and paint in & out of my pistachio green home studio affectionately known as "the hut" at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder, Colorado. I see the mountains from my window everyday and they are still as beautiful and as inspiring as the day we met. I have a little garden where I grow collard greens, chard, kale, bell and hot peppers, some other veggies and flowers too. I once lived and traveled around the Australian desert in a yellow VW bus for a year and picked peas, peaches, nectarines and nashi pears for a living.
I love bento boxes, chopsticks and bowls, bonsai trees, teas, tea cups and tea pots. I love all kinds of Festivals (art, film, music, moon, international, fiery foods, cycling, balloon). I LOVE Balloons and Lanterns, Yoga, Hot Springs and Spa Treatments, Sleeping outside in the Summertime, Riding my Bicycle, Dancing and Telemark Skiing. I want to get good at spinning POI!
I am Brazilian, British, Belgian and American. I used to wonder whether my art and paintings could really offer anything of true value to another human being. I no longer wonder. I used to struggle deeply with the idea that as an artist I was contributing more 'things' to our planet. I no longer struggle. This world is made of 'things'. They might as well be beautiful and inspiring, uplifting, fresh and heart opening! I think birthdays are special and love to celebrate my friends. Here's to a happy, brilliant and beautiful life we can each call our own!
